                          (Pertemuan ke-1)

Hai, pecinta mapel bahasa Inggris....kalian pernah mendapatkan sebuah prestasi yang membanggakan bukan???? Tentu saja orang-orang disekitar kalian akan ikut gembira dan mengucapkan selamat atas keberhasilan kalian. Demikian juga ketika kalian sedang mempersiapkan diri untuk mengikuti suatu even atau kejuaraan tertentu maka mereka akan memberikan semangat diantaranya dengan mendoakan keberhasilan kalian. Nah, sekarang kalian akan mempelajari bagaimana ekspresi mengucapkan selamat dan mendoakan keberhasilan orang lain. Selamat belajar....semangat !!!

•                 Expression of hope and wish 

Ucapan atau ungkapan yang digunakan orang untuk menyatakan suatu keinginan atau harapan.

Penggunaan Hope :

                   Hope + (that)

Contoh :
1. I hope (that) you have a good day. = I hope you have a good day
2. I hope (that) your parents are always happy.= I hope your parents are always happy.

                  Hope + to infinitive / be

Contoh :
1. I hope to have a new bike.
2. I hope to be the winner on a singing competition tomorrow.

Penggunaan Wish :

                 Wish + noun

Contoh :
1. I wish you luck on your exam.
2. Shinta wishes she will get the first rank.

                 Wish + to infinitive / be

Contoh :
1. I wish to win on the English Debate Competition.
2. I wish to be the first winner.

Responding Hope :

1. I hope so too.
2. Thank you.
3. Thanks a lot.
4. Thanks for your hope.
5. Wish me luck.
6. Thanks.

Make expression hopes and wishes based on the situation below!
What will you say if …
Contoh :         - your sister will do her test.
     ( jawaban : I hope you are ready to do the test.)

Ungkapan mengucapkan selamat :

        Examples : Happy new year.
                           Happy holiday.
                           Happy Eid Al-Fitr.
 I’d like to congratulate you on your ….
        Examples : I’d like to congratulate you on your achievement.
                           I’d like to congratulate you on your success.
 Congratulation for you.
 Congratulations.

Responds to expression of congratulation :
• Oh, thanks.
• How nice of you to say so.
• Thank you.
• Thank you very much for saying so.
• I’m glad you think so.
